Improving people's life through designing better products has always been great motivation for many designers. But, since information technologies and digitalization have been transforming our entire... industrial landscape and processes in the last decades, we can't think about products in the same way anymore. So where is design today? How to design and think products today when they deal with hardware, software and complex ecosystem of services? By making some historical parallels, with the Bauhaus in particular and putting things in perspective we will try to identify some challenges about how to design meaningful products in our contemporary context. Speaker: David Gauquelin is lead designer at Prezi. Prior to this he was working as a UI designer for Frog Design a global innovation and technology services firm. With his dual design background, ranging from designing products to digital products he has a specific design approach and a solid general design culture. He is enthusiastic about designing meaningful and straightforward interfaces. He's also interested into convergent design approaches where physical and digital aspects of a product merge together. He's a passionate speaker about wider design challenges that deal with information and communication technologies.
